Polyurethane (PU) floor coatings offer superior UV stability, scratch resistance, and flexibility compared to standard epoxy. They are the preferred choice for outdoor areas, sun-exposed spaces, and environments where colour retention and abrasion resistance are critical.

Polyurethane vs Epoxy

While epoxy provides excellent chemical resistance and adhesion, it can yellow and chalk when exposed to UV light. Polyurethane topcoats solve this problem — they maintain their colour and gloss even in direct sunlight, making them essential for outdoor applications and areas with large windows.

Types of Polyurethane

Pricing

Polyurethane coatings typically cost $55–$90 per square metre installed. Polyaspartic systems (fast-cure) are at the higher end but allow next-day use.
